Master Sheng Yen, the founder of Dharma Drum Mountain, worked tiredlessly to clarify and propagate orthodox (正信) Buddhadharma by writing and giving teachings thoughout his life, thus left voluminous and admirable works behind. His action in upholding the lineage, breakthrough with novel ideas, promotion of spiritual concepts and practices, were all significantly embodied through his understanding on doctrines, meditation instruction and visions of education. He was a contemporary paragon of virtue and action. Therefore, his works and events in life were noteworthy to his followers or those studying Buddhist culture and development. Handwritten manuscripts, notes, correspondances, etc. are important historical data for the study of comtemporary Buddhism, as well as valuable references to track his path of spiritual practices. In order to better preserve these relics and historical data, and to slowdown the natural decaying process of these artifacts, these digitized works are of importance. Furthermore, may more people be benefited from exploring on this digital platform, and let the impact Master Sheng Yen has kindly left behind be felt!
